Meet Jake, a proud UniSQ alum who has made an incredible journey from Toowoomba to Hollywood. Graduating with a Bachelor of Creative Arts degree, Jake reflects on how choosing UniSQ was one of the best decisions he's made for his career.
“My time at the 51²è¹Ý was the best of my life and absolutely shaped where I went afterwards.
“My lecturers knew me on a personal level and I felt like part of a team rather than lost in a crowd of thousands of students often seen in American classes."
After graduating, Jake took a leap of faith and moved to Hollywood to pursue his acting career. He quickly became a fan favorite in the fantasy genre, thanks to his breakout roles in the Mythica film series and The Outpost. Beyond his on-screen work, Jake has also directed several television and film projects. Additionally, he runs two businesses that leverage his expertise and love for the fantasy genre.
With a passion for sharing his knowledge and expertise, Jake has led several workshops for UniSQ film and theatre students and high school students interested in the field.
His advice to aspiring actors stems from lessons he learned during his time at uni and has been continually reinforced throughout his professional career.
“There is no blueprint; there is no one way to do it,” Jake said.
“Working hard to find opportunity and recognising it is such a pivotal part of this entire industry.
“There are so many paths to take, and this was a path I never expected to take, to go across the world, get my education and then move back and somehow make it work.”
