UniSQ aviation student and athlete, Alex is reaching new heights. Whether he's leaping through the air in the triple jump or cruising through the skies in a plane, Alex strives for excellence.
Alex's love of aviation started at a young age when he loved watching the planes land over the road next to the airport. From the age of nine, Alex has wanted to become a pilot and now he has a chance to fulfill that dream by studying a Bachelor of Aviation at UniSQ.
After doing some research on his study options, talking to other students and attending open day, Alex decided to choose aviation, putting UniSQ as his QTAC first preference. " The course structure, being trimesters, also helps fast-track the university degree, which I love." Trimesters are three study periods, equal in length and often shorter than a traditional semester. UniSQ's trimesters fit within a calendar year, so you can enjoy some time off study over New Year. At UniSQ we want to provide our students with learning periods that are flexible and allow you to balance your life, work and family commitments.
Uni life is more than just study, and nobody understands this more than Alex. As a UniSQ Elite Athlete, Alex has been provided specialised support services designed to help him balance his sporting career and academic goals. When he competed at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Peru, UniSQ was supporting him all the way.
"Being in the Elite Athlete Program has been a big help when travelling, training, and competing frequently while trying to focus on classes and finish exams and assignments. The university has been flexible on the number of subjects I’ve been studying for the last trimester when I was preparing for the World U20 Championships, and the lecturers gave great advice on my questions about reducing the number of subjects without affecting my next trimester or prerequisites for other subjects. Being in the Elite Athlete Program also helped with my entry into the UniSport Nationals."
With dreams of competing in the World Uni Games and becoming an international pilot, we’re excited to see what amazing achievements Alex will accomplish in the future.
